Yes, a natural foods store costs more than a supermarket. Organic produce, small-batch brands, food from farms twenty minutes away, none of that comes cheap, and we’re not going to pretend it does. But saving money at the grocery store isn’t about which store, it’s about knowing where the savings are.
What most people don’t know is how much of that gap closes if you know where to look. Every saving below is already posted somewhere, on our door, our website, or our cafe menu, but it’s easy to miss when you’re just in for milk. So here it is in one place: six ways to pay less at Nature's, all real, all current, no coupons to clip.
At a Glance
- Wednesdays: seniors 10% off
- Every day: military 10% off
- Bulk orders: 10% off a case
- Bulk bins: pay for the food, not the packaging
- Reward-Up: free points, store and café, plus 25¢ off in your own cup
- SNAP/EBT + Double Up: extra money for fresh produce
1. Wednesday is senior day — 10% off
Every Wednesday, seniors get 10% off. That's it. It's been posted at the top of our website and on the front door, and it's still the easiest saving in the store: if you’re eligible and you do one big shop a week, make it Wednesday. Ask at the register if you’re not sure you qualify.
2. Military discount — 10%, every day
If you’ve served, you get 10% off, any day of the week. No Wednesday to wait for. It’s on the same sign as the senior discount, and it works the same way – just show your ID at the register.
If you’re not sure what ID we take, ask at the counter we’re not fussy about it.
3. Order a case, save 10%
If there's something you buy every week, oat milk, a cereal, your coffee, a supplement, order it by the case and take 10% off. Tell us what you want, we source it, you pick it up. It works for one household and it works better for a few: three roommates who drink the same oat milk split a case and all save. Ask at the counter or call (315) 386-3740.
4. The bulk bins — pay for the food, not the box
Nuts, grains, oats, granola, flours, dried fruit, herbs and spices, even candy, all loose, all scoop-your-own. You buy a cup, not a bag. That’s two savings at once: you're not paying for the packaging, and you're not paying for the half of the bag that would have gone stale in the cupboard. Spices are where it matters most — a tablespoon of something you'll use once costs cents from the bin and a few dollars in a jar. Bring your own container.
5. Reward-Up — free points, plus 25¢ for your own cup
Our loyalty program is free, and it covers the whole building: groceries, supplements, and every coffee at Nature's Café. Sign up once at the counter and the points build up on their own.
And a small one that adds up if you're a regular: bring your own cup to the café and take 25¢ off your drink. Five coffees a week is $65 a year, for carrying a mug.
6. SNAP/EBT and Double Up Food Bucks
We take SNAP/EBT on all eligible groceries. We're also a Double Up Food Bucks site, which is easy to miss: pay for fresh fruit and vegetables with SNAP and you get extra Double Up benefits toward more produce. How it's calculated can change, so ask at the register — details are on our Food Assistance page.
Three more that aren't discounts but work like them
Buy what's in season. Local produce is cheapest in the weeks the farms have the most of it. USDA data shows the price gap between organic and conventional produce has been narrowing since 2015, and in season is where it’s smallest. Ask what came in this week and build dinner around it.
Gluten-free bread costs nothing extra. At the café, gluten-free bread on toast or panini is the same price as regular. Many places charge extra.
Don't buy the family size if you don't have a family. We stock small sizes of things you only use a little of — a small tube of harissa, a single spice from the bins. Cheaper to buy a little than to waste a lot.
That's it. None of these need a coupon or a code — they're just things we already do, written down in one place.
